Image Editing - Poster

This was the original image that I then edited to make my poster.
The synopsis of my film states that the house the siblings are staying in has been recently bought. So taking the picture in a room that is under construction fits that synopsis.
I wanted the picture to be dark to represent the horror and mystery of my film. However, the original image is very plain and not visually appealing to make and audience member want to look at it.
To keep it dark and make it more visually appealing I heightened the red levels to keep the sense of danger and give it more colour. I also added a spotlight beam effect on the person in the poster. This gives a torch effect and also makes the outer corners of the poster darker. I blurred all of the colours on the poster to give it a more shadowy and mysterious feel. Rather than just the plain grey and white on the original picture walls, they now have blues, blacks and various colours blurred into each other to make it more visually appealing.
The torch effect I have on the character gives her a sense of power which is reinforced by the sledgehammer.
